We were very lucky to be supported by an outside speaker for some self care and depression training recently.
Our carers were supported to understand depression from a persons point of view who lives with depression and anxiety daily she was able to talk indepth of her own experiences and challenges. This provided our carers with an insite of how best to understand and support any service users and their families if they are experiencing their own challenges, The speaker also offered advice to our carers to also recognise their own challenges and suggested methods they could use to overcome any personal difficulties such as the importance of self care. It is important that we all take time for our own self care and the speaker recommended every person takes a minimum of two minutes per day to give themslves self care.
Feedback from our carers is that they found listening to the speaker very helpful and gave them more understanding of depression and anxiety also the value of self care.
